Medical Device. Performed User Interface Design and Visual Design.
Wavetec Vision was developing a new surgical measurement technology that provided on-demand information to the refractive cataract surgeon live during surgical procedures. With this new technology set to transform and advance the budding union of refractive and cataract surgery, Wavetec sought out areteworks for a user interface that would optimize the efficiency of its technologically advanced surgical system and make their medical device feel like a natural part of the operating procedure.
Areteworks worked side-by-side with Wavetec and its engineers to deliver an advanced touch-screen User Interface application that aided surgeons directly in the operating room. Lengthy field study and task analysis, as well as spatial design and color palette research, helped to guide our designers’ concept approach and creation. In addition, Areteworks designed a web application used outside of the operating room to help manage patient information and surgical data in real-time. By designing and coordinating both the web application and the touch-screen user interaction navigation of the surgical instrument, we were able to merge the many facets of laser surgery in an undeniable way.
