Graphical minimalism in User Interface Design

One of the trends in UI Design is the minimalistic approach towards graphics and icons. The positives of this approach is the icons are still easily understandable and do not distract from the content. The negatives, though, may be that the UI features are not as emphasized, and that the graphical minimalism doesn’t invite consumers to investigate deeper into products they are browsing in stores. For these reasons among others, minimalism may be best used on web applications that focus more on content, and a more pictorial approach to graphics used on products that focus more on features.
