Human Factors/FDA Assessment
Our Human Factors experts conduct both formative and summative usability tests, as well as document for FDA requirements. Through our User-Centered Design process we understand how to analyze the testing results and are able to iterate a design that meets FDA requirements.
Medical Usability Assessment
We perform both Formative and Summative usability tests. Formative usability testing assesses the product by identifying design strengths and areas needing improvement. Summative usability tests act as a final validation that possible problems and issues have been identified and adequately addressed and that all FDA requirements have been met. Our usability testing focuses on critical issues and aspects identified during the initial user research considered most likely to affect the use, safety, and effectiveness of the device in the workplace. This allows us to solve potential use-related hazardous circumstances- leading to the development of risk mitigation approaches and strategies that will shape the final User Interface design.
Medical Prototypes are pivotal to designing an intuitive user interface. We incorporate rapid prototyping techniques early in the product’s life cycle to help validate and assess initial concept designs. A fully developed prototype is then utilized as a usability assessment tool during the Formative Usability Testing phase.
At Areteworks we perform a thorough analysis of the tasks and sub-tasks users perform to accomplish specific goals by isolating tasks into their fundamental elements and analyzing repeated behavior patterns among users. During Task Analysis, we break down the workflow into the discreet tasks users perform to reach objectives. This provides Information Architects insight into the workflow sequences, interdependencies of each sub-tasks, why they are required and what the information flow is, along with any other distinctive aspects needed for a given task to be performed.
